On October 13, we hosted our second Leaves and Laughter fundraising event, including dinner, drinks, raffle, auction, and laugher, featuring comedian Dwayne Gill. The party at the Ford House was a sell-out with about 165 in attendance.
On May 1, we cut the ribbon, and officially opened the pickle ball courts! Reserve your court time using the reservation system on the village website: www.gpshoresmi.gov
Congratulations to the raffle winners! Adam George won the rights to a reserved parking spot at Osius park. The Bolton family won the right to name the entrance drive into Osius park.
2021
We didn't let the pandemic slow us down! We moved the volleyball court in the park and installed the new pickle ball courts in its place near the tennis courts.
We also provided some water toys for tots in the children's pool area and examined ways to restore the crumbling brick design on the various lookouts.
The Seagos and the Sattlers were winners of the raffle - the Seagos have their name on a prime parking spot, and the Sattlers named the drive into the park.
On October 7, we sponsored our first Leaves and Laughter fundraising event, including dinner, drinks, raffle, auction, and laugher, featuring comedian Dwayne Gill. The party at the Ford House was a sell-out with about 180 in attendance.
2020
Due to the pandemic, our Holiday Home Tour was cancelled, but our Deck Your Halls Holiday Decor and More event on
December 5 & 6 was a success!
The holiday shopping at the Schroeder Field House featured unique gift baskets, one-of-a-kind decorated trees, beautiful holiday florals, handcrafted bows, and fresh wreaths and garland.
Tree plantings around the city continue. And an ice rink was installed just outside the Field House for the second year in a row.
2019
Our Celebrate, Decorate, Entertain luncheon on Thursday, October 10 was a huge success. The tablescapes, gift baskets and silent auction items were over the top! More than 120 guests at the Country Club of Detroit enjoyed the delicious luncheon, camaraderie and raffle. Congratulations to the 8 lucky winners who took home the one-of-a-kind lavishly designed table settings and centerpieces!
The Seagos and the Conrads were the winners of a "bragging rights" raffle early in the year -- the Conrad name is on the drive to the entrance of the park, and the Seago family scored the prime parking spot!
2018
The home tour on December 2, Opening Our Doors, was our fifth holiday tour. Once again, it featured a brunch at Lochmoor Country Club and visits to local homes, lavishly decorated for the season. Almost 200 visitors enjoyed the tour and brunch, and shopped for gifts and seasonal items at the Schroeder Field House.
Serve It Up Saturday on August 25, GPSIF hosted a celebration and dedication of the refurbished tennis courts. The Foundation donated $100,000 towards the tennis court refurbishing efforts.
Spring projects included replacing aging bricks and installing beautiful exposed aggregate concrete at the Pool House Entrance. We also provided a facelift to the 8 Lakeshore seascape gardens, and installed the memorial tree for Kurt Tech, one of the founders and generous supporters of the GPSIF.

Celebrate, Decorate, Entertain luncheon on
October 12 was held for over 100 guests at the Country Club of Detroit, and featured 12 monthly themed tablescapes. Beautiful centerpieces were constructed featuring unique wine selections.

This year, the GPSIF hosted two major fundraisers:

Our second Celebrate, Decorate, Entertain luncheon at the Country Club of Detroit on October 4. The event featured a silent auction of gorgeous tablescapes and gift baskets that were available for purchase.
Funds raised allowed us to complete:

2015
The first Celebrate, Decorate, Entertain luncheon was held at the Country Club of Detroit on October 15 and was a great success! The event featured decorating and entertaining demonstrations, a silent auction along with a boutique filled with "Party-to-Go" baskets, holiday decor and more.
Projects this year included:

Re-outfitting the old one-sided basketball court as a pickleball court

2014
The second Holiday Home Tour, Opening Our Doors, was a two-day event -- the brunch and home tour were held on December 7 and seasonal items were available at the Field House on December 6.
The GPSIF Tree Committee assesses the need for new trees in Grosse Pointe Shores in the fall, and over 11 planting locations were identified in light of damage from the storms in 2014.
On Saturday, September 27 the GPSIF celebrated 30 years of improving and enhancing life in the Shores. The event took place at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House. Guests were able to partake in tastings from the Cotswold Cottage, view a history display, socialize with friends and neighbors and purchase raffle tickets and silent auction items.
Residents, Trustees and many Council members celebrated the dedication of the Splash Pad on June 17. Marty Ellis was the master of ceremonies and thanked the many sponsors and donors of this project as well as the trustees and city employees who worked on the splash pad since its inception in August 2013.
On Sunday, May 5, Grosse Pointe Shores celebrated Arbor Day with a city-sponsored Fun Run. Two trees were planted in Osius Park to honor lifetime Foundation members, William Clay Ford and Ralph Wilson, who both passed away within the past year.
Fundraising this year focused on the splash pad:

Brick pavers (12 X 12 inch) to surround the perimeter of the splash pad

Bronze, silver or gold sponsorships ($1000 - $2500 - $5000) were recognized on a plaque that is displayed near the splash pad
